Polestar is ringing the bell

Many people want the fuel engine to disappear from the showroom even sooner than is now intended. At least, that’s according to research by GlobeScan commissioned by Polestar. Polestar is sounding the alarm, saying that the current efforts of automakers are falling short.
Polestar has commissioned research firm GlobeScan to ask 18,000 people worldwide about their vision on electric driving. This shows that an average of 34 percent of the respondents thinks that new cars with fuel engines should be banned by 2030. 47 percent support a ban by 2035, as is currently the EU target. According to the research, 36 percent in the Netherlands is in favor of a ban on the fuel engine by 2030 or earlier. The Netherlands is in fifth place, only in Germany (37 percent), Singapore (42 percent), the UK (44 percent) and South Korea (48 percent) even more people are in favor of this.
Polestar would undoubtedly have liked higher percentages, as it already only sells electric cars. CEO Thomas Ingenlath nevertheless uses the results to emphasize that, according to him, ‘action needs to be taken faster’ to make electric mobility commonplace. “Today, only 1.5 percent of vehicles on the road are electric, so it’s clear that we live in an EV bubble, not an EV one.tree. This decade is the most critical decade we’ve ever lived in as it comes to not exceeding the Paris climate accord. We need governments that lead the way with robust policies, both on infrastructure and tackling electricity prices, so that drivers can confidently drive electric. More importantly though; automakers should act now and not wait for policy changes.”
