37 Dutch employers: fossil-free fleet in 2025

A group of 37 large Dutch employers have united in the coalition ‘Different Driving’, with the aim of having their fleet free of fossil fuels by 2025.

The employers, including big names such as ABN AMRO, Aegon, ANWB, KPMG, LeasePlan, NS, Philips, Pon and Shell, will jointly introduce 23,000 ’emission-free’ cars in their business fleets in the coming years. By 2025, the entire fleet of these organizations must therefore no longer have its own emissions.

Hugo Houppermans, the director of the coalition, states that the electric car is becoming attractive enough for large-scale business use: “The range has improved considerably and the range has increased considerably. In addition, the business case is becoming more interesting. The operational costs of electric cars can already be lower than those of fossil cars. My advice is to map this out quickly for your organization. ”

The greater purpose of Travel differently is that by 2030 the business CO2 emissions of the affiliated companies will be halved compared to 2016. An emission-free vehicle fleet is of course an important step in this respect. According to Houppermans, the pandemic also plays a role in rethinking the mobility of these companies: “A new balance between working from home and office work creates new dilemmas for employers. New ways of working together require a redefinition of the way of working and traveling. The time has come to take further steps towards a sustainable mobility policy. ”
