If one thing became clear during the keynote during WWDC23, it is that watchOS is going through a major overhaul. You can expect a lot of new features on your Apple Watch. We list five that you have not yet seen.
The Apple Watch is one of the iPhone maker’s most popular products, and it makes sense. It is not only a very handy wearable with which you can easily pay, for example, but it also keeps a close eye on your health. These five new features in watchOS make the smartwatch even better.
The new features coming to your Apple Watch
watchOS 10 is getting its biggest update in years, and there’s so much news that Apple couldn’t announce everything during the keynote. That’s why we list five useful functions that you have not seen before. Here they come.
#1 Apple Pay can now be set up via the Apple Watch itself
Apple Pay is one of the most useful features on the Apple Watch. This allows you to pay by holding your smartwatch near a card reader. It actually works exactly the same as contactless payment via a bank card.
But if the feature is so useful, why is activating Apple Pay so cumbersome? That still has to be done via the iPhone, but that will change. With the arrival of watchOS 10 you can also do this on the Apple Watch itself.
#2 On-the-job adjustments.
The Apple Watch is also the ideal gadget for work. It has a number of features that help you do that. It has hands-free communication capabilities to respond to notifications on the go. In addition, there are adjustments to fall detection to protect workers on the job site.
It also becomes easier to easily manage other mobile devices via your Apple Watch.

#3 Face Time
The Apple Watch will now support even better FaceTime functions. For example, it will soon be possible to watch recorded video messages on the screen of the smartwatch.
You can now conduct group calls via the watch. The big question, however, is when the smartwatch will get a camera and we will be able to FaceTime all the way through the device.
#4 Automatic night mode for the Apple Watch Ultra
Do you have an Apple Watch Ultra? Then you get a very useful function. This model has the special Wayfinder dial, which gives you information such as location, altitude and coordinates.
Now it is possible to manually switch it from day to night mode, but that can now also be done automatically.
#5 Optimized charging coming to multiple models
One of the interesting features of watchOS 9 was the optimized charging of the Apple Watch Ultra. With watchOS 10, this feature also comes to the other models.
You may already know this feature from the iPhone and the AirPods. Your wearable learns how you use it and adjusts the charging accordingly. By doing this, the battery condition deteriorates less quickly and you can enjoy your smartwatch for longer.
