The holiday jitters are probably already starting to set in, so the planning can begin. With these hotel apps you can easily search and book a room on your iPhone or iPad.
The best hotel apps for iOS
Whether you prefer to book everything six months in advance or would like to arrange a stay during your trip; with these hotel apps you can always easily find an accommodation that suits you.
1. Booking.com
Anyone who has ever looked for a hotel is probably familiar with Booking.com. The website offers a huge range of hotels, apartments and holiday homes. With a choice of tens of millions of places to stay, chances are you won’t find what you’re looking for here. The app makes searching easy and ensures that you can easily book and manage your reservations on the go.
Where the website can sometimes come across as a bit intrusive (‘three people are looking at this room right now!’), the iOS app is less so. That makes browsing enjoyable. Booking.com offers a huge range of filter options so you can find a room that’s right for you.
In addition, it sometimes has good offers that you will not find elsewhere. The cancellation conditions via Booking.com are usually very favorable and booking is arranged with a few taps. You usually only pay when you check in at the hotel itself.
2. HotelTonight
For those who find Booking.com too intrusive, HotelTonight is a good alternative. This app is primarily aimed at – the name says it all – people who are looking for a room for the same evening. But with HotelTonight it is just as possible to book your room further ahead. The great thing about HotelTonight is that they already make a selection themselves based on your interests, and leave out all the noise.
This will show you a small selection of hotels in the ‘Basic’, ‘Hip’ or ‘Luxury’ category, and each description is short and concise. HotelTonight also offers some nice extra functions. For example, in some cities the app has a chat function available, in which you can ask someone for tips for your destination. There are also daily special offers. If you react quickly, you can save some money.

3. Trivago
Are you someone who, after viewing one comparison site, likes to consult another? Then the Trivago app is for you. Think of this as a comparator of hotel comparators. Trivago searches more than 180 hotel booking sites and selects the best offers from them.
This way you are almost certain that you will not miss out on a better offer. Searching in the app is very easy. Several filters can be applied and you can also easily search by location to find a hotel near you on the spot.
4. Airbnb
No hotels, but sleeping at people’s homes, in a room that someone has empty, or in a house whose residents are on holiday for a while. At least that was once the idea behind Airbnb. In the meantime, especially in popular destinations, the service has been overrun by professional providers who only offer rooms and apartments to tourists. But that does not alter the fact that you will still see a unique range of accommodations via this app. This makes it the first place for many people to look when they go on vacation.
Airbnb allows you to filter by accommodation or location, but often only provides the exact address after you have booked. This is to guarantee the privacy of landlords. There is a wide choice of rooms, shared houses or private apartments. Recently you can also book other trips in the city where you are staying via Airbnb.
5. Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing is a good app for those looking for a little more adventure and really want to stay with locals. Couchsurfing encompasses a worldwide network of adventurous people who enjoy meeting others. Via the app you are not so much looking for a room or accommodation, but you go by the profile of the host or hostess. If you find someone you like, you can request to stay there for a few nights.

The couchsurfer network now spans millions of people in thousands of cities. You don’t have to stay overnight with someone right away; via the app you can also do other activities with locals or simply organize meetings.
