Podcasts apps tips

Various apps can be downloaded for iOS with which you can listen to podcasts, but with the standard Apple app you are actually fully equipped. There are, however, a number of settings that allow you to set up the app according to your wishes. Read all about it below.

1. Download only via WiFi

Such a podcast can absorb quite a bit of data, especially if you download several at the same time. It is therefore wise, if you have a small data bundle, to download via WiFi only. You can set the Podcasts app to take this into account.

  1. Go to the Settings of iOS;
  2. Scroll down and tap on ‘Podcasts’;
  3. Make sure that the slider behind ‘Only download via WiFi’ is green.

2. Synchronize with Mac

If you start listening on the iPhone but want to continue at home via the Mac, you can do so with the following setting.

  1. Go to the Settings of iOS;
  2. Choose ‘Podcasts’;
  3. Set the slider behind ‘Synchronize podcasts’ to green.

  4. Choose the interval for the search or set ‘manually’.

4. Custom colors

With custom colors you ensure that the Podcasts app colors with the cover of the podcast you are listening to.

  1. Go to the Settings of iOS;
  2. Choose ‘Podcasts’;
  3. Set the slider behind ‘Custom colors’ to green.

5. Download new episodes only

If you have an iPhone with little storage space or you just don’t want to save too many podcasts, it is advisable to only download the latest episodes. You set it that way.

  1. Go to the Settings of iOS;
  2. Choose ‘Podcasts’;
  3. Tap on ‘Download episodes’;
  4. Select ‘New only’.

6. Save fewer episodes

You don’t have to keep old episodes that you don’t listen indefinitely. Via the settings you can choose to only save a certain number of episodes.

  1. Go to the Settings of iOS;
  2. Choose ‘Podcasts’;
  3. Tap on ‘Limit episodes’;
  4. Choose how many podcast episodes you want to keep.
