SUV with mane

One car market is not the other, so it is just as explicable as it is interesting that the car range differs greatly from market to market. Today we take a closer look at the Hyundai Mufasa, a brand new SUV that shares its name with a lion from a Disney movie.
Like almost all well-known brands that are also active in China, Hyundai supplies a huge number of models in China that you cannot buy in Europe. We cars like the Celesta, Lafesta, Mistra, Elantra and Sonata. And then we’ve only had the sedans. If we take the SUV range into account, we will find an extended version of our Tucson, but also a Santa Fe that deviates from the European version and even a model called ix35 that still shares its base with the SUV of the same name that was launched here in 2015. relieved by the Tucson. But we’re not there yet! Hyundai also supplies a real MPV in China: the Custo. Between all those models, Hyundai sees a hole for a new SUV: the Mufasa.
Officially, Hyundai has not yet said a word about the Mufasa, but the SUV, apparently named after an animated lion, has not been able to hide its existence from us. We have found two photos of the model in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Transport and Information Technology. The Hyundai Mufasa is 4.48 meters long and is therefore almost as long as the aforementioned iX35, but shorter than the Tucson, which is always extended in China and about 4.65 meters long. The wheelbase of the Mufasa is also very close to that of the iX35 at 2.68 meters. Although it is technically older, the Hyundai iX35 has been running since 2017. It is therefore very possible that the Mufasa will replace the iX35. The Hyundai Mufasa will in any case be available with a 160 hp 2.0 four-cylinder. You guessed it: you will also find that machine in the iX35.

Hyundai Mufasa
The Hyundai Mufasa is in any case a striking appearance. With its angular and somewhat busy front, it is somewhat reminiscent of the Kia Sportage, but the car is not related to that. We see an enthusiastically extended hip section that emphasizes the rear wheel arches and at the very back we see lighting that is reminiscent of that of this Sonata.
The Hyundai Mufasa will not come to Europe. Do you regret that? Would you leave the Tucson for it?
