F1 Winter Test 2023: There’s action on track at these times

Formula 1 will really wake up from hibernation on Thursday, because then the new F1 cars will all take to the track in Bahrain for the first time. Testing will take place in Bahrain up to and including Saturday and that can also be followed live.

All new Formula 1 cars for 2023 have now been revealed and the real work can begin. At least, before the lights go out for the Bahrain GP on March 5, some testing still needs to be done. This is already happening in Bahrain, where the Formula 1 teams are currently setting up their camps. Thursday morning is the day, then the circuit will open for the Formula 1 cars at 8:00 am Dutch time. The morning sessions end at 12:15 PM and continue an hour later, until 5:30 PM. They run at the same times on Friday and Saturday.

Day Morning session Afternoon session
Thursday February 23 8:00 – 12:15 13:15 – 17:30
Friday February 24 8:00 – 12:15 13:15 – 17:30
Saturday February 25 8:00 – 12:15 13:15 – 17:30

These (Dutch) times are especially relevant if you want to follow the winter test closely. You can do that again this year via an official broadcast. Viaplay broadcasts all day and you can also follow the action all day via F1 TV. Keeping track of the times very diligently does not usually yield very much: during the winter test, the teams often hold their cards to their chest and it is often difficult to say which times have been driven with which fuel load. It is interesting to see whether the teams run into reliability problems, or whether there are teams that again suffer from a bouncing car, like last year.
