Xiaomi 13 Pro, Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Lite launched

During Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, ​​Xiaomi presented the Xiaomi 13 series for the international market. The Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro are the first Xiaomi models with professional camera technology from Leica that are available outside of China. They offer Leica professional optical lenses, as well as a host of advanced computational photography options. Other key features include the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Xiaomi’s own Surge battery management system. Xiaomi has also unveiled its latest lineup of AIoT products, including the Buds 4 Pro, Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro, and Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Ultra, more on that later.

Xiaomi 13 Pro
Xiaomi 13 Pro has a 3D curved ceramic body for a unified look. It is available in two colours: Ceramic White and Ceramic Black and fits comfortably in the hand. With a 120Hz WQHD+ AMOLED display, this 6.73-inch screen is capable of 1,200 nits full-screen brightness and 1,900 nits peak brightness, and displays accurate colors thanks to TrueColor. With support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, HLG and Dolby Atmos, the device delivers a beautiful audiovisual experience. In addition, both devices are IP685 dust and water resistant.

Cameras
The Leica Vario-Summicron 1:19-2.2/14-75 ASPH camera system on Xiaomi 13 Pro covers a focal length of 14mm to 75mm and consists of a 23mm wide-angle main camera with an ultra-large 1-inch IMX989 sensor, a 75 mm floating telephoto camera and a 14mm ultra-wide-angle camera. The IMX989 sensor, first seen on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, is the largest sensor ever built into a smartphone. With a high dynamic range, excellent light capturing capabilities and fast responses, the large sensor ensures colorful images with clear contrast and defined textures that reveal every fine detail. The smartphone’s new 75mm telephoto lens uses a floating lens design, inspired by DSLR engineering, and has a focal range of 10cm to infinity. Great for framing beautiful portraits and close-ups. The Xiaomi 13 has an optical zoom range of 0.6x to 3.2x and also features a 75mm telephoto lens.

Xiaomi 13 is available in Black, White and Flora Green. I think the flora green color is the most beautiful color, but unfortunately it is only available with the ‘regular’ Xiaomi 13, a pity. The Xiaomi 13 has a stylish flat-edge flat screen design and a 2.5D curved back design. The screen-to-body ratio is 93.3% and the bezels and chin are 1.61mm thin. The smartphone is equipped with a large 6.36-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen and has excellent color accuracy and brightness, while limiting power consumption.

Camera settings and options
Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro offer a wide range of detailed camera setting options for hobbyists and professional photographers alike. The master lens system, a software feature, provides a good focal length and depth of field for beautiful portrait shots. Users can choose from two different photographic styles – Leica Authentic Look and Leica Vibrant Look, which provide aesthetic options while maintaining image accuracy. With the Xiaomi Imaging Engine, Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi 13 have the strongest computational photography capabilities of all Xiaomi flagship models. Not only has the speed of capturing photos been improved, they also have Xiaomi ProFocus, which automatically focuses on certain moving subjects. Xiaomi 13 Pro supports Adobe’s ’10-Bit RAW DNG Camera and Color Profiles’, giving professionals more room for post-processing in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom.
Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro also offer excellent video options. Recorded videos have vibrant colors, sharp contrast ratios, rich details, 4K Ultra Night video and HyperOIS video stabilization.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Xiaomi Surge
Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro are both powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform. The GPU offers improved graphics processing and improved power efficiency of 42% and 49% respectively compared to the previous generation. CPU performance and efficiency are improved by 37% and 47% respectively. This offers all sorts of benefits for computational photography, real-time AI and gaming, and everyday life.

Connections and battery
The smartphones offer Wi-Fi 7 support thanks to the Qualcomm FastConnectTM 7800 mobile connectivity system. Xiaomi 13 Pro’s featured High Band Simultaneous (HBS) Multi-Link technology enables multiple and simultaneous 5GHz and 6GHz connections and is capable of achieving ultra-fast speeds of up to 5.8 Gbps along with reduced latency and great networking capabilities.2 Xiaomi 13 features Dual Band Simultaneous (DBS) Multi-Link operation and is capable of achieving network speeds of up to 3.6 Gbps.
Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro are equipped with the Xiaomi Surge battery management system that uses the company-developed Surge charging chip for longer battery life. Equipped with a 4,500 mAh battery, the Xiaomi 13 will easily last all day. The device also supports 67W wired turbo charging and 50W wireless turbo charging. The Xiaomi 13 Pro features an even bigger battery of 4820 mAh with 120 W HyperCharge, which can be charged to 100% in just 19 minutes.

Updates and warranty
Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi 13 offer three generations of Android system updates along with 5 years of security patch updates. The Xiaomi 13 Lite was also launched. This model is primarily aimed at young smartphone users for capturing selfies and stories. The smartphone is equipped with dual front cameras and versatile software functions.
