Create a checklist (that you can reuse)

You may have made miles last year. That’s why you have to check a few things when you take your classic car back on the road. After all, standing still is not so good for the car.

Therefore, be sure to check the following parts:

  • drive
  • brakes – with disc brakes you should also check the calipers as they may need an overhaul.
  • control
  • suspension
  • the condition of the tyres: profile and dehydration
  • relief

Also check the rubber hoses: they can leak or dry out during the winter. If in doubt, it is better to replace them preventively. In fact, with these points you quickly give the car a small turn. Then you can enjoy your classic car the most during the summer.

Then immediately clean those parts and the inside of the bodywork from dirt, sand or dust. Of course you had already done that when parking the car, but a check is always good. Then immediately check whether there are rust spots that require attention.

Also make the car nice and clean and fresh on the outside and inside.

Check the fluids

Under the hood you should of course also look at the fluids.

Then also check

  • coolant level
  • oil level or replace the oil before the new touring season
  • brake fluid, both the level and the condition of the fluid.

Also check whether the battery is still sufficiently charged and recharge it if necessary. The next point of attention is the tire pressure: you also have to get it back to the correct value.
