Ford Tourneo Courier: smallest passenger bus also in new

We can imagine that sometimes you can’t see the wood for the trees with all the different vans from Ford. In short, they are called Transit (order version / simple passenger version) or Tourneo (luxury passenger version) and the name behind it indicates the format. At the top is the largest bus simply called Transit, followed by the new Transit Custom, which is also available as a Tourneo Custom. Volkswagen comes with a new Transporter based on the Custom. A step below that we find the Tourneo Connect, which is based on the Volkswagen Caddy. At the bottom of the range are the Transit Courier and the Tourneo Courier. They both get a successor. We recently saw the order version Transit Courier, now it is the turn of the passenger version Tourneo Courier.

In these new spy photos, we once again see the striking front of Ford’s smallest van. That looks quite angular and therefore also a bit American, although you can assume that it is mainly a European Ford product. The current Ford Transit/Tourneo Courier shares its base with the previous Fiesta and you can bet that this new generation will take that of the current Fiesta and Puma. The Puma will soon be electrically powered and the new Ford Transit/Tourneo Courier will also be available with an electric powertrain.

For the first time we can take a look at the interior. That is not so much like that of the Fords Fiesta or Puma, it mainly resembles the interior of the Transit / Tourneo Connect. That is to say: the Tourneo Courier will also receive a joint digital instrumentation and infotainment screen housed in one panel. That panel is a bit more separate from the dashboard than with the Courier’s big brother. We expect to unveil the Ford Transit Courier and Ford Tourneo Courier later this year. There may also be an intermediate form, in which the Transit Courier is equipped with extra rows of seats.
