Name change and more!

You can expect a lot of news from Mini in the coming years. For example, there will be a successor to the current Hatchback. It will be called Cooper and will soon be available with a fully electric powertrain. On a full battery, it comes considerably further than the current model. This and more is apparent from reports from the English Autocar.
Mini has, among other things, a completely new generation Countryman in the development rooms. The new Mini Countryman is not only available with combustion engines, but also with electric powertrains for the first time. According to the English Autocar – which has collected the necessary information during a Mini event – the new Countryman will be on the market in February next year. But there is more in the barrel. We already know that Mini has a purely electric compact crossover in the pipeline: the Aceman. That production version of the Concept Aceman is scheduled for early 2025, Autocar writes. We also already know that Mini has a new generation of its three- and five-door hatchback in the pipeline and Autocar also has interesting news to report.

The current Mini Electric.
As with the current three-door Mini Hatchback, the new model will also be available in a fully electric variant. According to Autocar, this is planned for May 2024. The versions with combustion engines will follow a few months later. The generation change of the Mini Hatchback goes hand in hand with a name change. This is how the Hatchback will always go through life as a Cooper. This makes Cooper really a model name instead of a type designation applied in various forms (Cooper, Cooper S, etc.)
The new Mini Cooper will have a longer wheelbase than the current model, but will be about the same length as the current three-door Mini, stretching out at 3.82 metres. That means shorter overhangs. Furthermore, the Mini Cooper will soon be available as a five-door and as a convertible, although the five-door will only come with combustion engines. After all, Mini will soon have the Aceman for an electric compact five-door. And what about the electric small Minis? You can expect wider usability from it than from the current Mini Electric/Cooper SE.
The current model has a range of 234 kilometers on a full 32.6 kWh battery. The new electric three-door Mini Cooper ‘EV’ should travel at least 385 kilometers on a full battery pack. According to Autocar, there will even be versions that will have a range that is twice as large as the current model. That would mean that there will even be variants with a driving range of more than 470 kilometers. The electric motor would deliver 184 hp, just like in the current model, in addition, a power source of 218 hp will appear. According to Autocar, Mini is even working on an extra potent electric Mini Cooper JCW (John Cooper Works).
The electric Mini Cooper will soon come from China. The models with combustion engines roll off the production line in Oxford, England. In these photos, the new Mini Cooper can already be seen pretty well without stickers. From 2030, Mini will only sell new electric cars.
