Ford Galaxy and S-Max facelift

Ford stops production of the S-Max and Galaxy in Spain. This also has consequences for the factory staff in Valencia where the two space giants were built. 1,100 employees will lose their jobs, Automotive News reports.

The Ford Galaxy and S-Max have been discontinued in the Netherlands since 2018, but elsewhere in Europe the spatial duo was allowed to continue for a few more years. In fact, both the Galaxy and S-Max were subtly facelifted in 2019 and a hybrid powertrain even appeared on the delivery list for both MPVs. Everything comes to an end. Ford is ending production of the S-Max and Galaxy, with major consequences for some of the Ford workforce.

The Ford Galaxy and S-Max were produced in Valencia, Spain, where 1,100 people will lose their jobs as a result of the production stop, Automotive News reports. The factory – where Ford also builds the Kuga – already saw the Mondeo disappear from its production portfolio in 2022.

Ford is busy changing its line-up. Not only the S-Max and the Galaxy clear the field. For example, Ford will end production of the Focus in Saarlouis, Germany in 2025, and the Fiesta does not seem to have a direct successor either. Ford will soon launch the first of two electric models on Volkswagen’s MEB platform, but that model will not be born in Valencia either. That as yet officially nameless newcomer will soon be built in Cologne. Ford in Spain will eventually build electric cars on a self-developed platform.
