Navigation app Waze from now on also for the electric driver

New features rolling out ‘over the next few weeks’

Navigation app Waze from now on also for the electric driver

The popular navigation app Waze adds charging points and stations to its maps and routes. Electric drivers can now enter the make and model of their car in the app, which then knows which charging points are relevant to them.

Were you a fan of the Waze navigation app, but did you ban it when you started electric driving? Good news: from now on the app is also suitable for EV drivers. The creators of the app add all charging points and stations to the maps they use. You can register what model of electric car you drive, so that you can be guided past the most useful charging points for you, even without using the built-in navigation.

An advantage of Waze’s new functionality is that it uses user information to better inform other users. Not only the presence and availability of charging points can be seen in the app, but also whether and how well the chargers are functioning. To this end, Waze also continuously adjusts its maps at a local level, for which it obtains input from data from electric drivers who already used the app.

The company behind the app, which can also be used in combination with Apple Carplay or Android Auto, indicates that the new functionalities can be used from somewhere in the coming weeks.
