Masahiro Moro is promoted

Mazda is once again making a series of changes to its top management. The biggest news is the arrival of a new CEO, Masahiro Moro.
Moro, 63, will be named CEO at Mazda’s annual general meeting in June if everything is approved. He then takes over from 2018 appointee Akira Marumoto, who we do not see in another senior position in Mazda’s roster. According to Automotive News, he will be Senior Advisor. There are a lot of changes planned in Mazda’s management. For example, the chairman of the board will also be replaced, as will the CFO and the directors of a series of specific departments.
Mazda does not elaborate on the reason for the changes, and that is of course the right of this Japanese brand. It suffices to simply state that there are ‘workforce changes’ that have driven these changes. Like his predecessor, Masahiro Moro was in charge of Mazda’s North American division before moving to the absolute top position. Moro has been with Mazda since 1983.
When it comes to Japanese top positions in the car industry, there has been a lot of news lately: a new CEO recently took office at Subaru.
