Max Verstappen second after intense catch-up race

Sergio Pérez wins Saudi Arabian GP

Max Verstappen was just unable to crown a magisterial catch-up race in the Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia with victory. The two-time world champion in Formula 1 started fifteenth and drove his Red Bull in second after fifty laps on the street circuit of Jeddah. The only one he had to put up with was his Mexican teammate Sergio Pérez.

After 25 laps, the Limburger was already in second place, after an overtaking maneuver by the again strong driving Spaniard Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin. He failed to close the gap to the race leader in the remaining 25 laps. In the championship, Verstappen kept the lead by earning the bonus point for the fastest lap in the race on the last lap. Alonso finished third in this year’s second race by a good margin.

Alexander Albon (Williams) and Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) were unable to complete the race due to technical problems.
