Faster than expected
The first units of the all-new Volkswagen Passat should be delivered as early as September this year. The Skoda Superb, which is affiliated with the Passat, will follow shortly afterwards.
The fact that a new Passat is on the way is not news in itself. The promise that the car will arrive this year has also been made before. What is new, however, is that the first copies will be delivered in September, according to Automotive News. ‘AN’ says that it comes from none other than Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schäfer, so feel free to attach great importance to it. As we all know, the first delivery to a customer is not the first time we see a car. Episodes in September would therefore mean that the car will be revealed in a fairly short period of time, sometime in the coming months.
With a new Passat, Volkswagen is one of the few brands that still sees salvation in a fairly traditional mid-sized car. Under certain conditions, by the way, because the new Volkswagen Passat will only be available as a station wagon. Skoda seems to have found a unique place in this class with the extra spacious Superb. It is therefore not surprising that that car will also receive a successor, here in liftback and station wagon form. The Superb and the Passat will both be built in a Volkswagen factory in Bratislava, Slovakia. The Passat and the Superb are still produced at two different locations, namely Emden (across the Ems) and Kvasiny, the Czech Republic. The market introduction of the Superb will take a little longer, but should still take place in 2023.
The new Volkswagen Passat and Skoda Superb both regularly passed in camouflaged form.
