Major update
The Porsche Cayenne is getting a major facelift and we can now show the images of the interior. You can recognize a lot of the Taycan in it.
The current generation of the Porsche Cayenne has already lasted six years, normally we can carefully look forward to a completely new variant. But this third generation gets a solid facelift instead. This has everything to do with the fourth generation that will be fully electric. However, this will certainly last until 2025-26, so the current edition will have to last for a while, with some major updates. What the exterior will look like, and what will change under the hood, will not be known until next month, but we can already show pictures of the interior.
It is clear that the Cayenne is following the style of the Taycan. We see a similar curved screen where five different clocks display all the information you could wish for. The screen does not float like in the Taycan, but is sunk into the dashboard. To the right of this is the control of the automatic transmission, which we also know from the Taycan. The lever thus disappears from the center tunnel where more space remains for, among other things, the cup holders. We know the new sports steering wheel from the current 911, the well-known button for the driving modes is now standard. The latest Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with touchscreen can be found on the center console, but more interesting is the (optional) display for the passenger. It can show all kinds of information about the car here, but also show streaming services and videos if desired. Ideal for long journeys. Of course, the driver should not be distracted, so there is a film over it that makes it impossible to view the screen when you are behind the wheel. Reassuring thought: when stationary you can view all streaming services via the center console. According to Porsche, this type of multimedia service is a firm demand from customers in emerging markets such as China.
The rest of the cockpit has evolved nicely and has been made more horizontal. USB connections were replaced by a USB-C variant and there is now a cooled compartment to charge your smartphone so that this is done extra efficiently. Still nice.
