Mitsubishi Moonstone Concept: the car of 2035

Students from Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Turin have designed and presented a striking study model in collaboration with Mitsubishi. This is the Mitsubishi Moonstone Concept, a representation of what an electric crossover could look like in the year 2035.

The Mitsubishi Moonstone is therefore not a concept car that comes from Mitsubishi itself. During the development of the Moonstone Concept, according to IED, a lot of attention was paid to – you wouldn’t expect it – the use of environmentally friendly materials.

The Moonstone itself is a three-door crossover overloaded with interesting design elements, to say the least. The study model has heavy black wheel arch edges and a remarkably small window section. The Japanese has lighting distributed over several layers, complete with strikingly flat small units on top of the nose that house the LED daytime running lights. The eighteen students of the Master Course in Transportation Design program give the car an electric powertrain and drive-by-wire on paper, about which no specifications are communicated.

If you think the Mitsubishi Moonstone Concept is well on the retina, then we have to disappoint you. It remains with this study model, so there will be no production version.
