Turnover Fastned almost tripled, but net loss

Fastned has experienced enormous growth on numerous fronts in 2022. The turnover from charging sessions in particular rose sharply and the customer base also grew considerably. At the bottom of the line, the still heavily investing Fastned still does not make a profit.

The Dutch company Fastned again records very good growth figures. In 2022, the number of charging sessions increased by no less than 114 percent to 2.32 million sessions, the number of DC chargers grew by 62 percent to 1,237 units and the number of customers increased by 96 percent (218,600). There is even greater growth in terms of turnover. It nearly tripled from last year. Fastned raised €36 million with charging sessions in 2022, 191 percent more than last year. A total of 51.9 GWh of electricity was sold, 148 percent more than in 2021.

The trees reach to the sky, you would think. Nevertheless, Fastned remains loss-making. A net loss of €22.2 million was recorded for 2022. A year earlier, the loss amounted to €24.6 million. So the loss is slightly smaller. The fact that Fastned is not yet profitable is largely due to the fact that it is still investing heavily in expanding the number of charging stations. In 2022, 59 stations were added. Fastned wants to have 1,000 in 2030, there are now 244. For the time being, the investments will continue for a while.
