Pleasant bustle

It is busy again as usual on the Dutch roads. According to the ANWB, it is even busier than before the corona pandemic. If you think that traffic jams are mainly a problem in the suburbs, then you are wrong. In the morning, for example, it is often hit, especially near the German border.
Anyone who had hoped that ‘we’ would somewhat maintain the peace on the road of the corona period will be disappointed. According to the ANWB, the first quarter of this year was busier than in that quarter in 2019 and expectations for the rest of the year are not exactly rosy either. The first peaks with more than 1,000 km of traffic jams are already a fact. Motorists who prefer not to get stuck in traffic can try to work from home more often or drive at different times. How much sense that makes depends partly on the route you drive. After all, it is extra often hit on various points.
In the morning, the A12 from the German border to Arnhem is a ‘party’, near Duiven. Here, the traffic congestion (length times duration) has increased by no less than 50 percent compared to 2019, which is why it is now the leader when it comes to traffic jam locations in the morning rush hour. On the A2 from Maastricht to Eindhoven, it is also often hit in the morning at Leende. At Hank you often stand still in the morning on the A27 from Breda to Utrecht. In the evening rush hour it is busy in the other direction. The A27 from Utrecht to Breda near Noordeloos takes first place in terms of congestion. The A4 between Amsterdam and The Hague near Roelofarendsveen is ‘good’ for second place when it comes to evening crowds. The number three is a little further on, at the Kethel tunnel.
