All silent powerhouses in a row: the Model X is allowed the most
Many people (business) opt for an electric car, which soon raises the question of whether you can tow a caravan with it. Often that is not possible, or only a light trailer, such as a folding trailer. But luckily that is changing quickly. We list the real powerhouses that are allowed to pull more than 1,500 kg for you.
As you can see on this page, it is mainly the somewhat larger electric cars that can tow more than 1,500 kg. This quickly leads to another pain point: they often fall into the more expensive category. The cheapest electric car in this overview is the Smart #1, which costs more than €41,000. It is also the most compact that comes with it. What is also striking is that Mercedes-Benz in particular has many different electric models on offer, from the compact EQA to the large EQS SUV. But only their SUV models are suitable for a caravan holiday, as the EQE and EQS saloons are only allowed to tow a 750 kg trailer. However, the Tesla Model X is the absolute winner: it can tow almost 2,300 kg. Do know that a caravan cuts a lot with an EV, and that you easily lose 40 percent of the range.
