Ford is investing .2 billion in Canadian EV production

Ford is investing more than a billion euros in its production facility in Oakville, Canada. The complex located there is being prepared for the production of what Ford calls its next generation of EVs.

Ford announces that it is investing 1.8 billion Canadian dollars, the equivalent of €1.22 billion, in its Oakville Assembly Complex in the Canadian state of Ontario. Ford is converting the facilities for electric car production. This also includes a name change. After the renovation of the production facility is completed, the complex will be known as the Oakville Electric Vehicle Complex. The first adjustments to the production location will be completed in the second quarter of next year.

Ford says it will build its “next generation EVs” in Canada for the North American market. Ford currently assembles the Ford Edge and the Lincoln Nautilus in Oakville. Earlier, the Ford Windstar and the much older Ford Mainline and Customline and a handful of Mercury models saw the light of day there. Ford recently announced that it would build a new electric pick-up in West Tennessee. In Cologne, the manufacturer is setting up the Cologne Electrification Center where, among other things, the new electric Explorer for the European market rolls off the production line.
