Red Bull will keep Newey’s strong trump card ‘for years to come’

Red Bull owes its world titles in large part to the arts of Adrian Newey. At the beginning of last decade, the British top designer created a rock-solid concept with which Red Bull and Sebastian Vettel eventually won four titles in a row. After that, performance was mainly disappointing due to the Renault power source, where a strong chassis was unfortunately not enough. Now the motor is well done again thanks to Honda and Newey has again delivered feats with the RB18 and certainly the RB19. Those weren’t the last RBs in which Newey had a hand, as it now appears.

Team boss Christian Horner says Newey has no plans to move or retire. “He still has his heart in Formula 1 and his dedication to the team. It’s not something we talk about in terms of contracts or contract length, but he’s still here for many years,” Horner said. Sky Sports. Newey (64) has been an integral part of Formula 1 for decades and has an enormous track record. He started at Leyton House/March in the late 1980s and then achieved his first major successes as a designer with Williams in the early 1990s. The 1992 Williams FW14B and 1993 successor Williams FW15C are regarded as some of the most powerful F1 cars ever. The 1996 Williams FW18 was even better and until last year was still Newey’s dominant Formula 1 car with a win percentage of 75 per cent. The RB18 went over that last year, by more than 77 percent. To date, Red Bull’s current Formula 1 car, the RB19, is still undefeated. Anyway, there are only three races left. You can say that Newey has not lost his ‘magic’ at almost retirement age.
