Volvo’s parent company Geely is bringing a brand new to Europe with Zeekr later this year. And not the least may lead that adventure. Zeekr has attracted a particularly high figure from Lexus for this.
Geely’s EV brand Zeekr is coming to Europe this year. It will soon market the Zeekr X in our corner of the world, an electric crossover that shares its basis with the Smart #1 and with the forthcoming Volvo EX30. You don’t just introduce a new brand, so Geely puts a seasoned CEO at the helm of its European expansion.
Spiros Fotinos may call himself the CEO of Zeekr Europe, Automotive News reports. Fotinos has held various senior positions at Toyota and Lexus over nearly 25 years. From 2017 to 2019, Fotinos was Global Head of Brand Management at Lexus and a Director at Lexus Europe until September 2022. Fotinos has been with Zeekr since September last year as Vice President. He has been CEO at Zeekr Europe since January.
The brand brings the Zeekr X and the quirky Zeekr 001 to Europe. The first copies should get European asphalt under their wheels in the fourth quarter of this year. The 001 was initially intended as a model for Lynk & Co and has been for sale in China for a while. The manufacturer also sells a large electric MPV called 009 in its home country of China.
