Electric and strongest Jaguar ever coming in 2025
Despite the fact that Jaguar Land Rover had a highly positioned EV in its range relatively early with the Jaguar I-Pace, the English group is certainly not at the forefront when it comes to electric cars. A gigantic investment of €17 billion should change that.
The Jaguar I-Pace is currently the only electric car offered by Jaguar Land Rover. Although the manufacturer now offers a lot of plug-in hybrids, it does not want to succeed with electric models. The company previously parked planned models as an electric XJ successor in the refrigerator. With a mega investment of over €17 billion that Jaguar Land Rover is injecting into itself over five years, it should be ready for the EV future.
The factory that Jaguar Land Rover has in Halewood is being converted into a production location where only electric models will be produced. Jaguar Land Rover’s next-generation SUVs will feature on the Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA). Previously, combustion engine versions were planned for that platform, but Jaguar Land Rover is now talking about one pure-electric-platform. The brand does, however, retain the existing MLA base on which cars such as the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport are built for models that, in addition to EVs, must also be available with combustion engines, hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains. Jaguar will be introducing three completely new models in the coming years, including an electric four-door GT that it will produce in Solihull.
