Cupra Dark Rebel

Cupra likes to hang out in the elusive virtual metaverse and has drawn a study model for its own dimension in that digital world. This is the Cupra DarkRebel, especially for the Metahype.

Anyone who becomes ecstatic about the extent to which digital techniques are penetrating daily life is best to look away. Cupra goes quite far in it. Cupra believes in the metaverse, a kind of virtual counterpart to tangible reality with ‘3D worlds’. Cupra has its own space within that digital world of experience: Metahype. Cupra has now drawn a study model for its own virtual playground: the DarkRebel.

According to Cupra CEO Wayne Griffiths, the Cupra DarkRebel is the ultimate showcase for the brand’s vision of the future. That does not mean that Cupra will actually come up with a production model derived from the DarkRebel. The brand therefore does not call the DarkRebel a ‘prediction’, but a ‘provocation’. The DarkRebel seems sporty shooting brake-like model with a strikingly long front and a cab whose optical center of gravity is above the rear axle. The Cupra DarkRebel has lighting that appears to be recessed into the body. The triangle-shaped headlights of the electric DarkRebel are interesting, as the Tavascan also has a light signature with triangles. Other future Cupra models – including facelifted versions of existing models – will also receive a similar light signature. The interior of course looks futuristic and quite minimalistic. Behind the wheel we see a digital guy who is undoubtedly completely in line with the metaverseCupra’s Metahype and everything around it.

In what Cupra de – yes – Hyper Configurator you can personalize the Cupra DarkRebel. Incidentally, it does not seem to stop with some virtual versions of the DarkRebel. Cupra says that there will also be a tangible copy.
