Peugeot 208 is the most popular new passenger car
Almost 30,000 new passenger cars were registered in the Netherlands in April. That was no less than 35 percent more than in the same month last year. In April, Kia knocks Tesla off the throne as the most popular car brand in the Netherlands.
Figures from Bovag, RAI Association and RDC show that 29,669 new passenger cars were registered in April this year. That is 35.23 percent more than in the same month last year. In April 2022, 21,938 new cars were registered in the Netherlands. The first months of this year show a succession of attractive registration figures. This is mainly because importers are rapidly clearing the large arrears that have built up over the last two years.
Most popular car brands in the Netherlands, April 2023
In March, Tesla was the car brand that registered the most cars in the Netherlands, but in April Kia settles on the Dutch registration throne. Kia was also allowed to call itself the most popular car brand in the Netherlands in February and was also the brand that registered the most new cars throughout 2022. In April, 3,052 new Kias appeared on the Dutch road network. Kia’s market share was a not-so-sickening 10.3 percent. Tesla is no longer in the top 5. The brand delivered 767 new cars last month.
In second place we find Volkswagen that is breathing down Kia with 2,762 registrations. Peugeot kicked it in with 1.936 to third place, followed by Toyota and Renault in fourth and fifth place respectively.

Most popular cars in the Netherlands, April 2023
Although Kia is in the lead in April, the most popular model came from Peugeot last month. The ever-popular Peugeot 208 accounted for 912 new registrations in April, claiming a market share of 3.1 percent. The Kia Picanto is in second place with 882 registered copies. The entire top five is quite close together. In third place is 208-brother Opel Corsa with 872 registered copies. The Volvo XC40 and Lynk & Co 01 close the top 5 most popular cars in April.
