Microcar

The Spanish start-up Liux has presented its second car. This is the Liux Geko, a direct competitor for electric microcars such as the Citroën Ami and the Opel Rocks Electric.
Last year we first met the Spanish Liux, a start-up that presented the first ‘vegetable car in the world’ with the Animal. That hefty electric station-like is now joined by the significantly smaller Geko. Unlike the Animal, the Liux Geko is a tiny electric city rascal that falls into the L7 segment, which includes cars such as the electric Citroën Ami and Opel Rocks Electric. In the Netherlands you need a driver’s license for vehicles in the L7 category, which makes the Geko not immediately interesting for Dutch people without a driver’s license
The Liux Geko is a 2.7 meter long electric microcar which weighs 550 kilos. It has a 13 kWh battery on board from which it can squeeze up to 150 electric kilometers. Its top speed is limited to 100 km/h. According to Liux, it uses a composite that includes linen for the exterior. Like the Animal, Liux manufactures various parts of the Geko’s exterior and chassis using a 3D printer. Liux does not yet communicate a price. However, the Geko seems to be given priority over the Animal within Liux’s product planning.
