Compact electric crossover under XC40

Volvo will pull the curtain this year on a new compact crossover that should translate the success of the electric XC40 in particular to a smaller segment. This is the Volvo EX30, a car that you can encounter everywhere in the Netherlands in a year’s time.
During the presentation of the brand new and fully electric EX90, Volvo did not hesitate to immediately divert attention from that SUV. The brand announced the arrival of an electric crossover that positions it under the successful XC40. We don’t have to wait long for that EX30 to be called newcomer. The Volvo EX30 will make its debut this year. AutoWeek can already show you the electric Volvo EX30 from all angles after research in the database of the Chinese patent office CNIPA.

Volvo EX30
The Volvo EX30 is somewhat exaggerated, said to be a heavily shrunken version of Volvo’s largest electric SUV: the EX90. The family ties are immediately apparent. The Volvo EX30 gets T-shaped headlights and the taillight also shows similarities with those of the EX90. On the EX30, however, the rear lights are connected at both the top and bottom. On both sides of the rear window we also see lighting elements – just like with the EX90. The Volvo EX30 does not have recessed handles in the doors.
The Volvo EX30 will be placed on the SEA platform developed by Volvo’s parent company Geely. To be precise on the variant of that modular EV base that is also under the Smart #1, #3 and Zeekr X. The Zeekr X has a 66 kWh battery and 272 hp and 428 hp powertrains. The Smart #1 and #3 also have powertrains with similar powers. The Smart #1 kicks it up to a range of 440 kilometers, the Volvo EX30 will have a similar range.

Volvo itself also has news about the EX30. It releases a teaser plate and a video of the electric crossover and reports that the car will have its public debut on June 7.
