Two engines, four-wheel drive

Not surprisingly, the brand new Volkswagen ID7 gets a sporty GTX-baptized top version. That will be the absolute flagship of Volkswagen’s ID fleet.
Hardly any Volkswagen ID model can escape the GTX treatment and so the Volkswagen ID7 must also believe it. The recently presented electric sedan (there will also be a Variant) still has 286 hp and rear-wheel drive in its strongest form, but of course it cannot stop there with a flagship. The ID7 should amply rectify that.
The Volkswagen ID7 GTX will have four-wheel drive and probably two electric motors with 340 hp together. At least that is the renewed powertrain that the ID3 GTX is said to get and that will soon also appear in the ID Buzz GTX. You can count on the 86-kWh battery from the ID7 Pro S to find its way to the ID7 GTX, although it remains to be seen whether it will also (as in the Pro S) allow up to 700 km range in the sporty version .
As can be seen in the teaser photos, the Volkswagen ID7 GTX distinguishes itself from its less intended brothers with slightly modified light units, black accents, darker tinted windows and GTX badges. You can also count on driving modes that make the chassis and steering feel sportier. There may also be a practical advantage to the ID7 GTX, because the Volkswagen ID4 can pull 200 kilos more as a GTX, for example. Volkswagen will present the ID7 GTX in September at IAA Mobility in Munich.
