Volvo EX30

The relatively compact electric Volvo EX30 will be officially presented in a week, but not before Volvo again throws some teasing pictures on the internet. In this round we get to know more about the interior and there is another look at the coach.

Although the avid visitor to AutoWeek.nl already knows what the Volvo EX30 will look like, the Swedes themselves are of course still nice and mysterious. Last week we were shown parts of the interior and Volvo released that extensive use has been made of materials whose use should be less damaging to the world. For example, denim, flax and wool are used in the interior. Recycled and renewable materials, all the way 2023.

However, ease of use has also been considered. Volvo now shows part of the dashboard and says that the glove box of the EX30 is centrally located under the dashboard, making it easily accessible for both the driver and co-driver. On top of the fairly tidy-looking dashboard is a soundbar from Harman Kardon, which is integrated into the dashboard design, so to speak. According to Volvo, this ensures that there are no speakers in the doors and there is therefore more space in the door compartments to store things.

Everything on one screen

You will find a 12.3-inch infotainment screen centrally on the dashboard of the Volvo EX30. If you look closely you will see that this is the only screen. Volvo chooses to place all information in this central screen, including the things that you usually see in the instrument panel. Speed, direction of travel, battery level, all those things are displayed at the top of the screen if desired.

In the middle part of the screen, things such as the music player or the navigation can be conjured up. In addition to using the touchscreen, it can also be controlled with voice control, thanks to the Google Assistant. Not surprising; the basis of the infotainment system comes from Google and the apps known from Android phones can also be installed via the Google Play store. Incidentally, the Volvo EX30 can also handle Apple Carplay.
