AutoWeek was already able to show you the first images of a brand new electric SUV from Canada in March: the AXL SharX-5. That car has now been officially presented and is remarkably modest for an electric newcomer.

Well before the Canadian start-up AXL Electric Vehicle presented its first electric car, AutoWeek could already show you the model from all angles on a patent image. Now AXL Electric Vehicle has presented its SharX-5 newcomer itself, which means that we can now tell you what the electric SUV is capable of.

AXL SharX-5: complete with three screens.

AXL is reluctant to storm the electric car market with a model that is packed to the brim with a dizzying amount of electric horsepower. Instead, it gives the SharX-5 a relatively modest 209 hp electric motor with which it buzzes from standstill to 100 km / h in a more than adequate 7.4 seconds. Although the SharX-5 has one electric motor, it is four-wheel drive. There is a 67 kWh LFP battery in the bottom, sufficient for a range of up to 500 kilometers. The company believes that more people would make the switch to an electric car “if there was a luxurious but affordable electric car.” According to the Canadians, it is now there. How affordable is the SharX-5 then? AXL asks about €37,300 for the electric SUV.

What about the ‘luxury story’? According to AXL, the SharX-5 has 20-inch light metal, heated and ventilated seats, three displays in its interior, a crystal rotary knob to choose the direction of travel, an extensive package of active and passive safety systems, a glass panoramic roof and three displays. In addition to a digital instrument panel and a large vertically oriented infotainment screen, the SharX-5 also has a screen that is directly in front of the co-driver in the dashboard. In the list of countries where AXL wants to deliver, we find, in addition to the United States and Canada, various countries in the Middle East and Asia, but also a series of European countries. The Netherlands, however, is missing. We are awaiting a response from AXL Electric Vehicle to the question of what the concrete European plans are.
