Ducati has issued a recall for the Panigale V2. In automatic lighting mode, the dashboard may switch from dipped beam to daytime running lights in the dark, due to an incorrect calibration of the photodiode.

Following some reports from customers about malfunctioning of the headlight’s automatic lighting mode, Ducati did an analysis of the warranty claims at the end of February 2023, which revealed that some TFT displays had been replaced due to this defect.
Ducati asked the dealers to send the dashboards to the factory for further analysis, where an investigation was started in consultation with the supplier. That investigation revealed that the photodiode had been miscalibrated. The photodiode is a light-sensitive cell that controls the daytime running lights, as well as the day/night mode of the TFT display.
Due to an incorrect calibration, the photodiode turned out to switch from low beam to DRL in the dark and at the same time activate day mode in the TFT. By switching off the automatic DRL lighting, the driver could reactivate the dipped beam. The problem has been solved with an update of the dashboard software.
Although the problem has not led to incidents and can easily be solved by means of a software update, Ducati has nevertheless decided to issue a recall. An update of the software will be carried out free of charge at the dealer.
