Opel Corsa (1995) – Enthusiast Wanted

Happy and fresh

Opel Corsa (1995) – Enthusiast Wanted

If you look in your rearview mirror these days, chances are there’s a car behind you with a front on it as if it wants to rip you out of existence. How different was the trend in the early 1990s, when cars were still allowed to be cheerful, round and cuddly. Take a look at this ‘happy’ Opel Corsa, for example!

Almost all modern cars, large and small, have been given a front by their designer that seems to ooze aggression. And if it’s not an angry nose, then it looks like a grumpy look. The current Opel Corsa did not escape this trend either. Both before the facelift and after. How different it looked with its distant ancestor, the Corsa B. It pretty much embodied the design trend of that moment, when round shapes were everything and cars still looked friendly. ‘Good’, that’s how you could describe the Corsa B. At the time, however, it was quite a modern appearance, especially compared to its somewhat more moderately received predecessor.

Anyway, we are now barely thirty years further and now there is mainly a dated car that, although it has made a lot of Dutch people pleasantly mobile for relatively little money, has not been as widely embraced by car enthusiasts as some other little ones. Why then the attention for this Opel Corsa from 1995 in the Enthusiast Wanted section? Well, first of all because such a Corsa (as described above) is just a nice antidote to today’s stuff, but also because it is a very nice copy.

Opel Corsa

Look at it with its fresh color and modest (but still neatly black) bumpers and hubcaps. Time seems to have stood still on this 28-year-old Corsa, which certainly applies to the interior. It all looks very neat in the photos. Even the original cassette radio is still in it. The latter is certainly a good sign, because it may be an additional indication that this Corsa, unlike many other Corsas, has not been in the hands of a youthful bend driver. We would also believe the typical ‘belonged to an old lady’ in this case. The mileage of only about 80,000 km and the fact that the first owner remained satisfied with it for 22 years (!) strengthens that suspicion.

In short, this Corsa seems to be able to ‘Swing’ for a while, only now the question is with whom. We understand the asking price of €3,450, although that is also money that probably only enthusiasts would seriously consider. They’re there, aren’t they?
