Mercedes-Benz GLS: Get in from almost €160,000

Big SUV, big price

Big luxury SUVs come with big prices. Before Mercedes-Benz announces it itself, AutoWeek can tell you what the updated version of its one of its two top SUVs should cost. We are not talking about the electric EQS, but for the Mercedes-Benz GLS.

In April this year, the Mercedes-Benz GLS was subtly facelifted. The more than 5.2 meter long competitor of cars such as the BMW X7 and Land Rover Range Rover received a new grille, modified bumper work and a slightly modified light signature. As with many other recently renewed Benzes, the engine range of the GLS has been changed. The majority of the engine versions will now receive support from a 48 v mild hybrid system. AutoWeek can already report the first prices of the facelifted Mercedes-Benz GLS.

The renewed Mercedes-Benz GLS will initially come to the Netherlands with two different powertrains. The GLS adventure starts at €158,626. For that amount you can drive the large SUV as a GLS 450 4Matic with a 381 hp (+20 hp) strong 3.0 six-cylinder petrol engine. The starting price applies to the Exclusive Line version. This mild-hybrid petrol version is also available as an AMG Line and costs €167,858 in that form. This powertrain helps the GLS reach a speed of 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds.

Prefer a mild-hybrid diesel? No problem. The second engine version with which the refreshed SUV becomes available is a 367 hp (+20 hp) strong 3.0 self-igniter with six burners. It is available as an Exclusive Line from €163,939 and costs a minimum of €173,437 as an AMG Line. The 0-100 sprint takes just as long – or short – in the GLS 450d 4Matic as with the only available petrol version for the time being.

More engine versions will follow later.
