Renewed interior and longer electro breath
The Land Rover Discovery Sport has been around since 2014, but just under ten years after the model was launched, the English think it is still too early to completely replace the model. For the umpteenth time, the Land Rover Discovery Sport receives a technical update. And that’s not small.
In 2014, Land Rover launched the Discovery Sport as a more accessible alternative to the real Discovery. In 2019, the Discovery Sport was facelifted and not only received new lighting and new bumpers, but also a completely new interior. Four years later, Land Rover renews the Discovery Sport, which is available with up to seven seats, and again the car gets a revised interior. But there’s more than that.
Although Land Rover leaves the appearance of the SUV almost intact on a handful of details per version and also leaves the majority of the dashboard for what it is, there is still a considerable novelty in the interior. The complete center console looks completely different due to the arrival of a new infotainment system. From now on, the center console is made up of a new curved infotainment screen with a diameter of 11.4 inches. Wirelessly connect your iPhone or Android phone via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto? Which can. The climate control has now also been incorporated into the PiviPro system, with the result that the button island that previously served it has had to clear the field. Land Rover has placed an inductive charger in the space that has become available at the bottom of the center console. More news inside: Land Rover pulls the traditional automatic transmission lever out of the center tunnel and places a smaller selector stick in the plate.
Land Rover adjusts the standard equipment of various models. For example, a digital instrument panel is now standard on all versions, as well as paddle shifters behind the steering wheel and the Amazon Alexa virtual assistant. Passengers in each row of seats have access to two USB-C ports and you can also use two 12v sockets in the second row of seats. A new option is Cabin Air Purification Plus, a cabin air filter system. Also new to the option list: 3D Surround Camera, ClearSight GroundView and a rearview mirror that can also display the images from a rear-facing camera. Handy if your car is fully loaded to the top of the roof.
More plug power
As before, the Land Rover Discovery Sport is back with plug-in hybrid powertrains and the English also supply the SUV as a plug-in hybrid P300e. The battery of that plug version has a new composition, with the result that the electric range has increased slightly and is now 51 kilometers. Again, the P300e has a 200 hp 1.5 three-cylinder that works together with a 108 hp powerful electro heart. The system power: 309 hp and 540 Nm. In addition to the P300e, the renewed Discovery Sport is also available as a P200, P250 and as a D165 and D200.
The Land Rover Discovery Sport has a starting price of €63,670 (P300e).
