Character tray
A few times we have brought attention to a second-hand Subaru Impreza in Enthusiasts Wanted, but they were both sedans. Now it’s time for a Plus, the striking station wagon version. This copy does not cost the main prize, while on paper it is quite interesting.
At the end of last year we took a look at a very ‘early’ Impreza sedan from 1994 and a year earlier the spotlight was on a wonderful GT Turbo 555 from 1998. Cars that were both fun in their own way. The first because of its modesty and because it still had the primal nose, the second because it was a nice and potent version. This 1995 Impreza Plus is somewhere in between. It is not necessarily modestly executed, but it does not look particularly sporty either. Just a charming character box with a bit more space than the other Imprezas.
The Subaru Impreza Plus was a remarkable appearance, with its relatively short butt. Not a station wagon as you saw it on every street corner, but more of a kind of oversized hatchback. That suited the model well, because the Impreza wanted to be anything but a dime a dozen family car. With its roof spoiler, mud flaps and light-alloy wheels, this copy also winks somewhat at its brothers, who were all the rage in rallying at the time. It gives me a nice ‘smooth’. It is striking that the dashboard does not have a sporty but rather a dignified touch, with the ‘wooden’ finish. Yes, this Impreza evokes all kinds of different emotions.
You can bet that it also triggers the necessary emotions when you start it. After all, then you call a wonderful 2.0 four-cylinder boxer engine to life, which does its job with a nice roar and makes it a nice and smooth car with its 116 hp. That is, if it is indeed the 2.0 that lies in the nose of this Impreza. According to the advertisement title, yes, although the specifications contain figures that match the 1.8. The difference? 0 to 100 km/h in 10 or 11.8 seconds. Both more than sufficient, but we secretly hope that it is the former.
Unfortunately, we cannot check it based on the license plate, because that is not known. The provider reports that it has only had one owner, according to the counter it has only driven 116,000 km and there would be booklets to confirm a few things, so we do not fully understand why the license plate is kept secret and there is no photos of booklets are included. That is worth checking if you want to go to Borne to view the car. For €2,999 it can be a nice deal, provided it’s all right.
