Also as open Topolino Dolcevita!

The Citroën Ami and Opel Rocks Electric must be careful not to let their latest sister model eat the cheese of the bread. This is the Fiat Topolino, a tiny electric city rascal that looks many times more cuddly than that French-German pair and that is also available with open doors and a large roll-top.
Highlight Fiat Topolino
- Italian alternative to Opel Rocks Electric
- Based on Citroen Ami
- With completely own (retro) design
- Also as an open Topolino Dolcevita with strings instead of doors
The Ami developed by Citroën only has a variant called Rocks Electric in Germany and the Netherlands, which is sold by Opel. The Ami and the Rocks Electric resemble each other like two drops of water and now Fiat also has a derivative of the minuscule French city car: the Topolino. Unlike the Rocks Electric, the Fiat Topolino has been given its own packaging, which makes it an attractive appearance for those who are sensitive to a touch of Italian charm.
Provided: the Fiat Topolino is of course not a fully-fledged electric car. Just like the Citroën Ami on which it is based, the Topolino is an extremely small electric city friend, in which you can hit the road from the age of 16 and with a moped license in your pocket. But not everywhere: the Fiat Topolino, just like its sister models, has a 8.2 hp powerful electric motor that gives it a top speed of 45 km / h. The 5.5 kWh battery is sufficient for a WMTC (World Motorcycle Test Cycle) range of 75 kilometers.

Fiat Topolino Dolcevita
The Fiat Topolino is only 2.41 meters long, which makes it not only shorter in length than the Fiat 500 Topolino sold between 1936 and 1955, from which it takes its name, but also more than half a meter shorter than its successor: the now better known ‘Backpack’ 500 that was introduced in 1957 (2.97 meters). Speaking of that Backpack: it’s obvious that the design of the 500 is based on that car. The Topolino perhaps shows even more similarities with the original 500 than the current 500 models. He peers into the world with two round glasses framed by a chrome rim, has indicators placed separately from those headlights and gets a silver-colored element in his bumper that nods to the ‘real’ steel bumpers of yesteryear. Above the headlights, Fiat has even added a shape that nods to the front cover of the 500 from decades ago.
More optical retro fun? Certainly! Just look at those simple and round side mirrors, the wheels and the rear. The back is also completely different from that of the Ami and Rocks Electric and, just like the 500’s, has small vertical taillights and a small canopy under which the license plate is nestled. The Fiat Topolino will even be available with a real luggage rack and a suitcase called Dolcevita Box for its buttocks. The fun the designers had behind the drawing table is also reflected in the interior. The Fiat Topolino has a retro-looking roof in which the digital instruments are housed and on top of the dashboard we find a cheerful striped cushion with leather straps. According to Fiat, you can store one suitcase (63 liters) between the front seats.

Fiat Topolino
Open and closed
The delivery range of the endearing Fiatje is quite clear, but is therefore no less interesting. Fiat only supplies the Topolino in one color, with one set of wheels and with one composition of the interior. However, the two-seater is available as a Topolino and as a Topolino Dolcevita. Where the Topolino is the closed version, with a glass roof and sun blinds, the Topolino Dolcevita is an open version with a historically sound fabric roll-top. Doors does not have the open version! Instead, this variant gets some Fiat By Ropes calls. Indeed: strings that are reminiscent of those of the 500’s Jolly from days gone by.

Fiat Topolino: also with doors.
Fiat says Generation Z – born from the mid-1990s – wants to “fall in love” with cars again with the Topolino. Or will that work? That of course depends a lot on the pricing. In any case, the Topolino has its appearance! If you want to make a Topolino more personal, you can order stickers with a wood pattern for the closed version, among other things. Fiat has come up with a series of cheerful accessories for both Topolinos: from a fan that you plug into the USB connection to a Bluetooth speaker and from a thermal bottle to chair covers that can also be used as a beach towel.
