Volvo EX90 Single Motor: almost only less fast

Volvo recently introduced a new rear-wheel drive version of the EX90. The significantly milder motorized Volvo EX90 Single Motor than the well-known Twin Motor versions almost only turns out to be slower than the stronger versions of the EX90 with the larger battery pack.

Until recently, the Volvo EX90 was only available as a four-wheel drive Twin Motor and Twin Motor Performance. The Volvo EX90 Twin Motor has two electric motors with a total of 408 hp and a 107 kWh (net) battery pack, good for a range of 585 kilometres. This is the EX90 with the longest range. Above that is the more powerful EX90 Twin Motor Performance. It also has the 107 kWh battery and two electric motors, although that hardware in the Performance variant is good for 517 hp. In less than 5 seconds, this version hits a speed of 100 km / h, making it the EX90 for speed demons. The electric range is 580 kilometers. Recently there is also a significantly less potent motorized version: the EX90 Single Motor. We now also know how fast he is.

As its name suggests, the Volvo EX90 Single Motor has only one electric motor. It is on the rear axle and makes the EX90 Single Motor a rear-wheel drive vehicle. The electric motor is 279 hp and 490 Nm strong, making it just as powerful as the rear electric motor of the EX90 Twin Motor Performance. Although the EX90 Single Motor has a smaller battery pack with a net capacity of 101 kWh instead of 107 kWh, the electric range is of course considerable. It can travel up to 580 kilometers on a full charge, as far as the Twin Motor Performance and only 5 kilometers less than the EX90 Twin Motor. As far as range is concerned, you will not be short of anything. You do have to settle for a less impressive 0-100 time. The Volvo EX90 Single Motor takes 8.4 seconds to reach 100 km/h from standstill. Its top speed, like that of any other EX90, is set at 180 km/h.

The EX90 Single Motor is therefore especially less fast than its Twin Motor brothers. Logically, you pay less for it. The Volvo EX90 Single Motor is available as a Core from €83,495, an EX90 Twin Motor of the same design costs at least €88,995.
