BMW and therefore Toyota technology?

More news from Ineos. The manufacturer has presented a demonstration version of a Grenadier with a fuel cell on board. Unlike before, it does not have Hyundai technology on board, but borrows its hydrogen hardware from BMW.
Ineos and Hyundai announced a collaboration in the field of hydrogen technology at the end of 2020. A year later, Ineos showed a fuel cell Grenadier from the Koreans on board. The regular Grenadier, like the recently presented Grenadier Quartermaster, has petrol and diesel engines from BMW. The cooperation with BMW turns out to be quite satisfactory. Ineos is showing a new demonstration version of a Grenadier with fuel cell and that new hydrogen version also has BMW technology on board.
The Ineos Grenadier FCEV Demonstrator, as the demonstration vehicle shown is called, is externally almost completely identical to the regular Grenadier. However, the sticker work indicates the presence of a fuel cell and the large bump on the hood also reveals that this is not a normal Grenadier with a combustion engine. According to Ineos, that higher bonnet is necessary to give the fuel cell a place, but will no longer be necessary for the final production version. For the hydrogen version of the Grenadier, Ineos had to adjust the ladder frame and the rear axle. Each rear wheel is controlled individually and Ineos says the turning circle is significantly smaller than a regular Grenadier. Ineos is not yet sharing extensive technical specifications. BMW already has a hydrogen model in the form of the iX5 Hydrogen, although the few dozen copies that exist are currently part of a pilot project. Although Ineos speaks of a BMW powertrain, it is quite possible that the Ineos FCEV has the iX5 fuel cell on board. That is actually a copy of Toyota.
The hydrogen version of the Ineos Grenadier should be ready for the market in 2026. In that year, Ineos also comes with a regular electric version of its offroader.
