Finally: first Tesla Cybertruck produced

More than three and a half after the Tesla Cybertruck was first shown to the world, Tesla built the very first production version of it. The equally angular and electric pick-up has suffered the necessary delay.

In November 2019, Tesla showed the Cybertruck for the first time. The Cybertruck attracted a lot of attention during its unveiling. Not only with its angular design, but also with the somewhat clumsy presentation in which an unbreakable side window turned out not to be. The Cybertruck was initially supposed to hit the market sometime in 2021, but Tesla has postponed the market launch of its electric pick-up several times. On Twitter, Tesla CEO now proudly shares a photo of a large group of factory employees – plus points for the gentleman in the front left – of his factory in Texas with the very first real Tesla Cybertruck somewhere in between.

As far as technical specifications are concerned, the Cybertruck is still a mystery. The Tesla Cybertruck was initially presented in three flavors. There would be a rear-wheel drive basic version with a range of 400 kilometers that should cost about 40 grand in the home country of the United States. In addition, Tesla provided a four-wheel drive variant with a range of 480 kilometers. The top version would have three electric motors and a range of more than 800 kilometers. At the end of last year, Tesla reported that the Cybertruck should be able to charge quickly with up to 1,000 kW.

When the Tesla Cybertruck was unveiled, if it had come straight into 2019, the car had little to no competitors. After all, the Rivian R1T has only been built since 2021, the Ford F-150 Lightning only since early 2022. More and more electric pick-ups are now being added. Ram and Chevrolet, among others, have already presented electric equivalents of the 1500 and Silverado in succession. The Tesla Cybertruck is also coming to the Netherlands.
