Is the Lynk & Co 01 next?

Lynk & Co 06: new family face on a smaller model

The plug-in hybrid version of the Lynk & Co 01 is the only Lynk & Co model that you can buy in the Netherlands. However, the brand has many more models in its range, including the 06. The Lynk & Co 06 has been thoroughly updated and is given the new family face that debuted on the Lynk & Co 08.

Lynk & Co’s Dutch range is quite clear. After all, the 01 is the only model of the brand here and although the SUV also exists with plug-free hybrid power in China, among other places, the Lynk & Co is only available as a plug-in hybrid in the Netherlands. Lynk & Co has many more cars in its line-up: the 02, the 03, the 05, the 06, the 08 and the 09. The 03 is a sedan, the 05 a 01 with a more sloping roofline, the 09 is basically a Volvo XC90 the 08 is a brand new model and the first Lynk & Co with the brand’s renewed design language. Today we’re shining a light on the 06. Although the Lynk & Co naming technically seems to be a spot higher on the brand’s status ladder than the 01, it’s a smaller and cheaper model. That Lynk & Co has now been thoroughly renewed and, just like the 08, has received the new design language from Lynk & Co.

Lynk Co 08

Lynk Co 08: the first production-ready Lynk & Co with the new design.

Where the 4.45 meter long Lynk & Co 01 shares its CMA base with the Volvo XC40, the more than 10 centimeters shorter 06 stands on Geely’s cheaper BMA platform that is also used by the Geely Binyue (and therefore Proton X50). The Lynk & Co 06 was presented in 2020 and is now only about three years old. Nevertheless, the car is already being radically renewed, although there does not seem to be a complete generation change.

The Lynk & Co 06 gets a completely new front with lighting as you may know from the aforementioned 08. The 06 now also shows some similarities with that SUV at the rear. From now on, there is also lighting on the back that consists of a bar across the entire width of the butt. Lynk & Co even gives the 06 a new one clamshell bonnet and a completely new tailgate. The front and rear screens have also been renewed. Such changes often take place during a generation and platform change, but that does not seem to be the case here. First of all, the 06 is only a few years old, but we also see that the windows are unchanged and that the updated Lynk & Co 06 – the photos and the first information of which we have surfaced from the database of the Chinese Ministry of Transport and Information Technology – just like the original has a 2.64 meter long wheelbase. The Lynk & Co 06 is also available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

It seems very likely that Lynk & Co will gradually roll out its new design over its existing models. What does that mean for the Lynk & Co 01? That is still the question. The car was already facelifted for the Chinese market in the middle of last year and that refreshed 01 never came to Europe. The Dutch importer confirmed to AutoWeek that there are no plans to bring the updated version here. Don’t be surprised if the Lynk & Co 01 is eventually updated in a similar way to the 06.
