Seventh in a row for Verstappen

Max Verstappen has won a Grand Prix for the seventh time in a row. In Hungary he was well ahead of the rest and gave Red Bull a special record.
Red Bull has broken the Formula 1 record for most victories in a row with Max Verstappen’s victory in Budapest. The Austrian racing stable now has twelve consecutive victories, one more than McLaren managed with drivers Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost in 1988. Red Bull’s winning streak started with Verstappen’s victory in Abu Dhabi at the end of last year. At the first race of this season, the Grand Prix of Bahrain, the 25-year-old Dutchman was again tied. In the next three races, the two-time world champion was the fastest once and teammate Sergio Pérez took the win twice. In Budapest, the all-powerful Verstappen recorded his seventh victory in a row.
For the first time in five races, the 25-year-old Dutchman was not allowed to start from pole position, but thanks to a good start he already took the leading position from seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton in the first corner. In the rest of the race, Verstappen rode alone to victory in Budapest. McLaren’s Lando Norris came in second, followed by Max Verstappen’s teammate; Sergio Perez. He fought back to the front after a disappointing qualifying session on Saturday.
Verstappen on the hunt for record
It is not often a Formula 1 driver manages to book seven consecutive victories. The German Sebastian Vettel was the fastest in nine races in a row in 2013. Furthermore, only Michael Schumacher also managed to win seven consecutive races in one season, in 2004. Verstappen will have the chance to get closer to Vettel’s record next week in Belgium.
