Inductive charging for Tesla?

Tesla’s wireless charging is one step closer. Tesla has acquired a German company that specializes in inductive charging.
Tesla seems to want to enable wireless charging of its cars. During a presentation at Investors Day, an image surfaced showing a Tesla Model S parked in a garage with a mysterious charger on the wall next to it. It did not seem to be connected to the EV, but to a black unit on the garage floor under the car. Tesla does not seem to be developing such a system from the outset, because it would target the German company Womanerion for this. Tesla has now taken over that company, the German reports Tesla Mag.

The takeover would have been completed at the end of June and the possible new name of the company can already be seen at the bottom of the Womanerion website: Tesla Engineering Germany. The acquisition involves an amount of approximately €70 million. The big question now is of course when wireless charging will be introduced at Tesla. In any case, Womanerion already offers inductive chargers for small transport vehicles that are used in distribution centers, for example. The challenge now becomes to make this technology interesting enough for use in passenger cars. The charging capacity will undoubtedly have to be increased considerably for this, although it is probably the intention that inductive charging will mainly be an alternative to recharging at home with 11 or 22 kW via a wallbox.
