Tesla Model Y soon also as a police car

The Tesla Model Y is fast becoming the best-selling car in the world. The Model Y moves hundreds of thousands of people from A to B worldwide and will soon get a second role. Yes, as a police car.

The American city of South Pasadena in California is replacing its entire fleet of police cars with electric cars. The long arm of the law will soon be driving around in this Tesla Model Y Police Vehicle, a Model Y that has been transformed into a police car.

The Model Y that the American agents will keep an eye on has not been modified by Tesla itself, but by the company Unplugged Performance. Unplugged Performance has been tinkering with Teslas for a while. For example, it previously poured a tuning sauce on the Model S and Model 3. According to Unplugged Performance, an electric police car is ideal because, according to the company, they contribute to cleaner air, require less maintenance and they ‘save taxpayers money’. After all, it doesn’t need gasoline. Unplugged Performance says it has calculated that on average 60 percent of all fuel used by police cars is burned while they are idling. A Ford Police Interceptor Utility Police Car – a Ford Explorer – would consume 6,182 gallons of gasoline annually at a pure idle. A hybrid police Explorer would burn an average of 2,763 liters of petrol on an annual basis.

Do you believe that the Dutch police should also drive around in electric cars? Why or why not?
