Rental car in demand, also as an EV alternative

Renting a car instead of owning one yourself will become increasingly popular in the coming years. At least that is the expectation after a study carried out by KPMG on behalf of the Bovag. Rental cars will also be used more often as a holiday car, as an alternative to the electric car.
Rental cars are expected to become much more popular in the coming years. Trade association Bovag reports this on the basis of a study commissioned by accountancy and consultancy organization KPMG. Fewer people are probably taking their own car because car ownership is becoming more expensive. Instead, they are expected to rent one more often. Moreover, more and more cities are adopting a car discouragement policy and as a result there is less and less parking space, which means that city dwellers may be replacing their own car with a rental car. The requirements for cars to enter the city are also becoming stricter. People who still own a model with a combustion engine may rent an EV for a day more often in the future to be able to go into the city.
Rental cars may grow in popularity as holiday transport. More people will make the switch to electric driving in the coming years, but this is sometimes not an ideal option for a long drive to a holiday destination. Then a rental car could be interesting. In addition, the number of leased cars is growing and, for example, more rental cars are needed as replacement vehicles. KPMG also expects more business travelers to come and that companies want to organize their fleet more flexibly.
