Monterey Car Week is just around the corner and that means there are also some special car reveals coming up. An overview of what to expect in terms of news.
Friday is the starting signal for the Monterey Car Week, a stately car festival on the California coast. It includes the famous car shows The Quail and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Traditionally, the Monterey Car Week has been a popular time for sporty and luxury car brands to present something new. This year is no exception.
Acura ZDX
Honda’s luxury brand Acura is bringing a major newcomer to Monterey Car Week. There it pulls the curtain off the fully electric new ZDX, a sturdy SUV with probably a sloping roofline and a fierce S version.
Aston Martin
It is not yet entirely clear what exactly Aston Martin will bring to California. In any case, we can count on a clearer picture of the Valour pictured above, because it is present, but the British seem to have more in store. Don’t be surprised if Aston Martin lifts a corner of the veil when it comes to its electric future.
BAC
We know the British BAC (Briggs Automotive Company) from spartan single-seaters that are especially interesting for track days. In 2020, the BAC Mono was completely redesigned and the company is now announcing another new supercar. It will probably be one in the spirit of the Mono, but with a slightly different approach. Incidentally, BAC was working on a Mono with a fuel cell, but that project has reportedly been shelved.
Lamborghini’s electric concept car
Big news from Lamborghini during the Monterey Car Week, because that brand presents a fully electric study model. Lamborghini’s first electric car will be a 2+2 with possibly some Estoque influences, so you can count on the concept car largely following that recipe.
Mercedes AMG GT
Perhaps the biggest scoop at Monterey Car Week comes from Mercedes-AMG. That finally reveals the brand new AMG GT. The new Mercedes-AMG GT has been spotted several times and we already know that it will be the coupé version of the SL, but it is still a thing when the curtain comes off at Pebble Beach (August 17-20).
Zevo Aurora
The Danish Zenvo is present with a brand new supercar, the Aurora. Zenvo itself has only shared an image of the V12 equipped with four (!) Turbos, which should contribute about 1,250 hp to the plug-in hybrid’s more than 1,800 hp system power. However, AutoWeek already published patent sketches of the Aurora in April, so the appearance does not hold too many secrets anymore.

Of course, it does not stop at the revelations mentioned, because during the Monterey Car Week there are also various cars that have already been shown that have not been seen before by a large audience. Think of the Maserati MCXtrema, the Pininfarina Pura Vision and the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport Golden Era, while Gordon Murray Automotive brings the T33 Spider and the T50. You can count on it that there are also some surprises conjured up from the top hat. The party starts on Friday, August 11, but the focus of Monterey Car Week is on the weekend of August 18 to 20.
