Volvo will introduce an electric MPV this year. Not just any MPV, but one premium MPV, said the Swedes. That electric MPV will be called Volvo EM90 and will be revealed soon.
EM90. That is the name of the first MPV that Volvo puts on the market. The Volvo EM90 will only have electric powertrains and will soon make its public debut. November 12 is the day that the Volvo EM90 makes its international debut.
Volvo describes the EM90 as a ‘premium MPV’ and ‘a Scandinavian living room’. So count on a fairly minimalist interior in which the focus is mainly on bringing the occupants from A to B as comfortably as possible.
We don’t have technical specifications yet, but it is obvious that the Volvo EM90 shares its technology with a product from Geely. Geely’s Zeekr brand sells a watt of an electric MPV in the form of the Zeekr 009. The Zeekr 009 stands on a large variant of the modular SEA platform, is more than 5.2 meters long and is available as a 272 hp rear-wheel drive and as a four-wheel drive with two electric motors with a combined 541 hp. The Zeekr 009 has a whopping 140 kWh battery pack that should enable a range of more than 800 kilometers according to the Chinese CLTC cycle.
Then the question: will the Volvo EM90 come to the Netherlands? The Dutch importer tells AutoWeek that this is not yet known at this time. We wait. Are you up for a large electric MPV from Volvo? Why or why not?
