The Supersport may no longer be of any interest to many manufacturers, but not so with CFMoto. During the 2023 CFMoto day at the Zhuzhou International Circuit, two prototypes were presented in front of packed stands: the four-cylinder 500SR and the three-cylinder 675RR, two models that, according to the Chinese, will be launched in various markets worldwide in the foreseeable future.
No brand is investing as much in the (affordable) Supersport segment as CFMoto, which, after launching the 250SR in 2019 for the Asian market in particular, has clearly set the tone this year with the 450SR – a motorcycle that was recently providing us with Bridgestone S22 tires on Ecuyers and Mettet has been put through its paces by Ron and an extensive test will be published soon.
According to CFMoto, the 500SR should be just as purposeful a bike and a pure expression of the sporty “SR” spirit. So much so that the four-cylinder screamer, with several innovations such as a new Ram-Air air intake, was secretly developed three years ago by CFMoto’s high-performance department.
The Chinese say they have applied the latest technologies to the 500SR, including forged aluminum pistons, connecting rods with so-called Stretch-Bolt bolts and a crankshaft with small enertia. The 500SR is a world-class four-cylinder supersport developed entirely in-house, according to CF, which should be able to effortlessly reach top speeds of more than 230 km/h.

The second model presented during the 2023 CFMoto Day is the 675RR, a three-cylinder that, according to the Chinese, should be good for a top power of more than 100 hp and a maximum torque of more than 100 Nm, which are not exactly impressive figures in themselves. : an MV Agusta F3 675 and Triumph Daytona 675 already have over 125 hp.
CFMoto also says that the 675RR is built around a new three-cylinder concept, which – and here come the superlatives again – ‘uses impeccable standards and technical processes. The ‘monstrous’ delivery to the rear wheel is accompanied by other first-class features when it comes to brakes, chassis, design and all aspects needed for a thrilling ride on the street and a sharp tool on the track.
These are strong words from CFMoto that were undoubtedly devised in the marketing department, but the prospect of a four-cylinder 500SR and a three-cylinder 675RR makes us happy. Bring it on!
