Lancia’s return: six dealers in the Netherlands, Ypsilon, Gamma and Delta return

And 20 dealers in France

Lancia’s return: six dealers in the Netherlands, Ypsilon, Gamma and Delta return

Lancia is preparing for its previously announced return to countries outside Italy. France will have twenty dealers and the Netherlands six, and you can count on something happening in 2024.

The six Dutch Lancia dealers will soon be Janssen van Kouwen in Amsterdam, Zeeuw in Zwijndrecht, Riva in The Hague, Henri & Herman in Bilthoven, Emil Frey in Eindhoven and Broekhuis in Zwolle. Importer Stellantis Netherlands also announces that we can expect ‘concrete news’ about the return of Lancia in the first quarter of 2024, followed by ‘even more concrete news’ in the fourth quarter of 2024. So it may be that we will hear in Q1 2024 that Lancia will arrive in the Netherlands in Q4. The Netherlands is not the only country to which Lancia is returning: Automotive News reports that Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Spain are also planned, as is France. France will initially have twenty dealers.

France would be a particularly important market for Lancia, as the French often prefer compact cars. That is relevant, because Lancia is launching a completely new version of the Ypsilon. The current Ypsilon dates from 2011 and is still extremely popular in Italy after several facelifts and updates. Since 2015, that has been the only country where Lancia is active, and then only with this one model.

Since parent company FCA is part of the large Stellantis group, a return of Lancia in other countries is on the agenda. The brand can and will of course use existing technology, so count on an Ypsilon that has a lot in common with the Peugeot 208 and Opel Corsa. In terms of powertrains, we count on mild-hybrid technology and fully electric versions. This makes the new Lancia Ypsilon one of the last new petrol-powered Lancias, because from 2028 Lancia will only sell electric cars.

Update: more insight into models

In Italy we learn more about the future models of the reborn Lancia. In 2025, Lancia will launch a sportier variant of the Ypsilon: the fully electric Ypsilon HF, which is lower and wider than the regular Ypsilon and is good for 240 hp. A year later, a 4.7 meter long sportback was introduced in the D segment for which the Gamma name was dusted off. And in 2028 Lancia will return to the C-segment with a Delta. Both the Gamma and the Delta are on the STLA Medium platform architecture, which means that both fully electric models will have a range of up to 700 kilometers.
